Introducing the dynamic new TRACER 9 from Yamaha. Lighter, quicker and more versatile than ever before – and featuring sleek new aerodynamic bodywork with enhanced ergonomics – this premium next-generation Sport Touring model is built to transport you and a passenger as far as your imagination can take you.
Imagine a new tomorrow
Europe’s best-selling Sport Touring model has been completely redesigned, with a larger-capacity 890cc three-cylinder engine producing even stronger torque for intoxicating acceleration. Whether you’re pushing hard on twisty mountain roads or covering large distances on the highway, the new lightweight chassis ensures sports bike agility with tourer stability, when riding both solo and two-up.
A new six-axis IMU governs the lean-sensitive electronic rider aids, which give precise control in a variety of surface and weather conditions, while twin TFT meters and full LED lighting underline this versatile sport tourer’s premium specifications. With full three-bag capacity and a 350 km plus range, the TRACER 9 is built to turn up your emotions and carry you into to a new world.
At a glance
In 2015, the first Tracer 900 changed the Sport Touring class forever. With its torque-rich CP3 engine, sporty chassis and all-round versatility, it became the bike of choice for over 50,000 European riders who wanted an agile and exciting multi-role motorcycle with plenty of attitude. Perhaps no surprise then that it’s the best-selling bike of its class.
TRACER 9 in numbers
The 889cc high-torque CP3 engine produces 93 Nm@ 7,000 rpm, with a maximum power output of 119 PS @ 10,000 rpm. 213 kg wet weight, 193 kg load-carrying capacity, 19 litre fuel tank capacity, 350km+ range.
EU5 890cc CP3 engine
Developing higher levels of linear torque at lower rpm, the new larger-capacity 890cc liquid-cooled CP3 engine produces remarkable acceleration and thrilling corner exit speeds, making this the sportiest TRACER 9 ever. Optimised gear ratios plus the refined A&S clutch deliver super-smooth performance – and the glorious growl from the new twin-tail exhaust and redesigned intake system amplifies the thrill of every ride.
Lightweight CF aluminum die-cast frame
The next generation TRACER 9 is equipped with a newly-designed CF die-cast aluminium Deltabox frame providing higher levels of rigidity that gives sport bike agility with sure-footed stability. The redesigned aluminium swingarm is 64mm longer to ensure excellent high speed stability without compromising the bike’s nimble handling character.
Full three-bag luggage capability
For increased versatility and convenience, the TRACER 9 offers you the option of fitting a total of three hard luggage cases, enabling you and your passenger to take a full set of luggage along with you on every road trip. With a 7% increase in load-carrying capacity, this dynamic Sport Touring bike can handle a 193 kg load.
6-Axis IMU plus lean-sensitive rider aids
TRACER 9 is now equipped with some of the most advanced electronic rider aids, to give you added confidence and precise control in different weather and road surface conditions. Developed from the R1M, the compact six-axis IMU governs a lean-sensitive three-mode Traction Control System (TCS), as well as a Slide Control System (SCS), front wheel LIFt Control System (LIF) and Brake Control system (BC).
Next-generation design and styling
Its new compact and aerodynamic body design gives the TRACER 9 a modern and impressive appearance that perfectly conveys the bike’s exciting sporting character and versatile touring capabilities. The lightweight fairing enhances your riding comfort over long distances, while the 19-litre fuel tank gives a 350 km+ range between fuel stops.
Full LED lighting
Compact LED lighting is featured throughout the TRACER 9. Separate high/low mono-focus headlights give the bike a dynamic new look and provide superior illumination in any situation. LED flashers reinforce the bike’s premium status, while the signature TRACER family taillight enhances the bike’s lightweight looks and sporty feel.
Twin 3.5” TFT meters
Twin 3.5” TFT screens provide intuitive, easy-to-read data that enables you to focus on your riding while being kept fully informed. While the left screen displays key operational information such as speed, rpm, gear and rider aid mode, the right screen features non-critical data including odometer, temperature and trip 1 and trip 2.
Lightweight Spin Forged wheels
The lightest design ever fitted to a production Yamaha – weighing 700g less than the previous model – the new SpinForged wheels reduce unsprung weight for superior suspension feel and performance. As well as helping to reduce the overall weight to 213 kg, these ultra-light wheels contribute towards the next generation TRACER 9’s increased fuel efficiency.
TRACER 9’s fully adjustable 41 mm USD front forks enable you to make easy adjustments to achieve the best set-up for every ride – whether you’re riding solo or two-up. At the rear, the compact shock can also be adjusted to suit the load and riding conditions – and the 64 mm longer aluminium swingarm gives an extended wheelbase for confidence-inspiring stability at higher speeds and with greater loads.
2-position adjustable seat
The TRACER 9’s handlebar/footrest/seat layout has been carefully developed to give a sporty yet comfortable riding position that offers full control as well as comfort. A new two-position seat enables tool-less height adjustment, enabling you to customise the ergonomics to match your riding style and physique.
The new TRACER 9 is fitted with a beautifully-styled aerodynamic fairing and tall screen, to provide improved wind protection and reduced buffeting. Along with the bike’s increased fuel range of 350 km, the new bodywork enables you to cover long distances in comfort, both riding solo and two-up.
