R1 GYTR: POWERED TO RACE
The R1 GYTR features the remarkable 998cc 4-cylinder CP4 crossplane engine which is a direct descendant of the MotoGP winning M1 race bike. Its uneven firing sequence delivers linear torque for outstanding performance and high levels of rear wheel traction and, combined with its sophisticated GYTR programmable ECU, enables you to push even harder to the chequered flag.
GYTR stands for Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing, which means each part has been developed by a team of professional race technicians. The new R1 GYTR is a fully prepared track-only superbike that is supplied to you in a race-ready specification. Equipped with a smart package of necessary track parts and performance enhancing racing components, this track machine is ready to take you to the next level.
Features
New GYTR bodywork with MotoGP-inspired downforce winglets
The R1 GYTR is supplied with a lightweight glass fibre carbon reinforced race cowling, specifically developed for easy installation and optimised aerodynamics. The MotoGP-style aerodynamic winglets fitted to the top of the main fairing were designed and developed from technical feedback from the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP team, generating downforce and complimenting the R1's wheelie control.
New generation KYB front forks
New 43 mm KYB inverted front forks have been fully re-designed and now feature individual adjusters for rebound and compression damping on the left and right fork tube, with two-way adjustment. Each fork leg now features a base valve, designed to optimise pressure in the cylinder by limiting or entirely preventing oil from flowing into the bottom of the fork, resulting in an improved damping response, enhanced contact feeling and better all-round stability.
Next level front Brembo braking performance
Responsive and high-performing, the new front braking system featuring Brembo master cylinder and Stylema calipers take the R1 GYTR's stopping power to the next level, combined with Brembo's Z04 racing pads for increased braking performance.
Lightweight, high performance CP4 engine
The 998 high-performance CP4 engine features exclusive crossplane crankshaft technology developed from Yamaha’s winning MotoGP race bike. It’s uneven firing sequence delivers linear torque for outstanding performance and high levels of rear traction, while sophisticated electronic control technologies enable you to push even harder to the chequered flag.
Akrapovic Race muffler with mid-damper system
A titanium Akrapovic exhaust (featuring new mid-muffler system) for optimised power output and controlled noise output.
GYTR Electronics package
The R1 GYTR is equipped with a lightweight GYTR wire harness and GYTR programmable ECU which allow you to set up your bike to achieve the best performance. Its advanced electronics package enables you to modify to a detailed level the slide, lift, engine brake settings and much more, including a GYTR ABS Emulator to disable the machine’s ABS.
GYTR Chassis parts
The R1 GYTR's race-ready specification includes race handlebars and racing rear sets for ultimate body position and controllability. This track machine also comes equipped with a keyless fuel cap, on/off switch and paddock stand and hooks for extra convenience.
GYTR Drive system
For optimum drive efficiency the R1 GYTR is equipped with a race specification 520 chain and runs with a 15T/42T front/rear sprocket combination. And there are also a wider range of front and rear GYTR sprockets available to adapt to your preference and track, that you can buy at your GYTR PRO Shop.
Compact Deltabox frame and lightweight magnesium subframe
Yamaha is a world leader in aluminium chassis design, and the R1 GYTR’s ultra-compact Deltabox frame with its lightweight magnesium subframe delivers outstanding cornering precision with high speed stability. The 10-spoke magnesium wheels reduce unsprung weight and minimise the rotational mass for responsive suspension action and easy directional changes.
Ride-by-wire APSG throttle
The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) is activated by a high-tech twistgrip assembly that gives a natural feeling for precise control. Featuring a spring, slider and gear that give a smooth and progressive feel, the lightweight ride-by-wire APSG (Accelerator Position Sensor Grip) twistgrip gives instant throttle response.
Wide range of GYTR components to tailor your R1 GYTR
The R1 GYTR’s specification can be taken to an even higher level by fitting a selection of other GYTR components that have been developed by Yamaha Racing engineers.
