Some races are won before the gate even drops, and the latest YZ125 gives you the edge to do that. Yamaha has been building and racing 2-stroke motocross bikes for over 50 years and it is this unrivalled experience that has enabled the company to once again further improve the latest YZ125 – making it a bike that is built to take you to the top of the podium.
Two strokes ahead
Getting the best out of your bike at every situation is crucial to winning a race and the latest YZ125 makes it easier than ever to do that. With the update to the intake system, the bike is more responsive in cornering and smoother on corner exit as you accelerate and work through the slick-shifting close-ratio 6-speed transmission, all the way to victory.
The lightweight race-bred engine internals and Yamaha's famous torque-boosting YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System), ensure hard-hitting power, while the ultra-slim bodywork gives you a high degree of controllability on the ground and in the air. When you are braking and accelerating hard, the flat seat and race-developed ergonomics allow you to move easily around the bike as you enter the victorYZone!
Features
Updated intake system
The complete intake system has been updated. The air filter’s intake has been enlarged and reshaped to allow air through more smoothly, and the joints have been updated for a smoother connection to the carburettor. All carburettor settings have been optimised for balanced fuel flow at all throttle openings. And ignition timing has been updated for optimal combustion at every degree of throttle opening.
Most powerful YZ125 engine
The high-tech 125cc 2-stroke engine is the most powerful unit ever used on the YZ125. Equipped with Yamaha's famous YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System) that gives instant response and excellent useability across the rpm range – and featuring lightweight race-bred internals – it's destined to take you to the victorYZone!
Ultra-slim bodywork
The latest generation bodywork is ultra-slim, with the area between the rider's knees the narrowest it's ever been on a YZ125 – and this athletic and modern design underlines the bike's lightness and compactness. These slim dimensions give a high level of rider mobility and reinforce this lightweight racer's feeling of agility.
Keihin Powerjet carburettor
The YZ125 is equipped with a Keihin PWK 38,1mm carburettor featuring a solenoid controlled powerjet for even more explosive performance – giving a real advantage out of the gate and when accelerating hard out of corners. A TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and 3D map controlled CDI ensure optimised ignition timing, while the V-Force reed valve assembly ensures optimum intake efficiency at all engine speeds. The 2026 YZ125 allows riders to adjust carburettor settings with greater ease, making the machine even more adaptable and user friendly
Smooth shifting 6-speed transmission
Every second counts, and for reduced lap times the YZ125 runs with a super-smooth shifting 6-speed transmission that enables you to accelerate efficiently and keep ahead of the competition. Transmission ratios have been carefully chosen by Yamaha's engineers to maximize race performance and power output in all conditions.
Race developed ergonomics
Engine performance is just one element of being competitive – the ability to handle the power effectively and take total control of the chassis is also vital. A flat seat with a low front combined with a slim tank and narrow radiator shrouds make it easy to shift your weight around the bike for increased controllability when braking, accelerating and cornering.
Best-in-class KYB suspension
Yamaha's SSS (Speed Sensitive System) KYB front forks are widely regarded as being amongst the best designs available on a production motocross bike. With idealised low-speed damping settings on both the front and rear suspension systems, the YZ125 delivers class-leading handling and excellent traction.
Powerful braking system
The brakes on the YZ125 have been developed to handle the engine's high performance. The 270mm diameter front disc and 240mm diameter rear disc are equipped with big-piston calipers that produce effective and controllable stopping power.
Single bolt seat fixing
A single bolt seat fixing gives quick and easy maintenance, and the design of the aluminium rear frame also contributes towards intake efficiency by enabling a smooth flow of fresh air into the airbox.
In-mould graphics and factory style rims
Sporting the eye-catching updated ‘Icon Blue’ colours and graphics, the YZ125 looks the part with its dynamic look completed with in-mould graphics and slimline bodywork, with factory-style rims completing the race-bike look.
