Travelling to work on a motorcycle, scooter or moped is one of the least likely modes of transport to affect your well being, according to a government travel survey.
The Office for National Statistics released a report this week examining the impact of commuting patterns on people’s levels of anxiety, happiness and satisfaction.
For journeys up to 30 minutes there was no effect on levels of happiness or anxiety for those who rode a motorcycle, moped or scooters to work. In contrast – for journeys between 15 and 30 minutes - those who walk, cycle, drive a car or take the bus – all experience an adverse increase in some or all of the factors measured.
Adam Kelley, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Yamaha Motor UK said "This is very positive research for the motorcycle industry as it clearly highlights the benefits of two wheels as the perfect way to alleviate congestion, reduce journey times and avoid lateness - three things which are key to employers and employees for saving money and improving general wellbeing in the work place and at home. What's more, Yamaha also has one of the most comprehensive ranges of motorcycles and scooters in the industry, from the classic looking but cost effective D'elight scooter, to the thrilling new triple-cylinder MT-09 which is guarenteed to add spice to even the dullest, congestion plagued commutes!
